Webinar on COP26’s Outcomes and Commitments of the Islamic World and Africa on Climate Change, Tuesday, February 15, 2022
The United Kingdom hosted the 26th United Nations Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP26) in Glasgow from October 31 –12 November, 2021. Heads of State, government representative anddelegates from many organizations and countries took part in theCOP26 to deliberate on the severity of climate crisis that is posing a major existential challenge to the world for last few decades.
The COP26 was hailed as the “last chance” to bring climate change under control establishing a global climate emergency. Even after six years of signing of the Paris Agreement under UNFCCC, the signatory countries are being urged to further reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. Unfortunately, keeping global warming at 1.5°C still remains a dream, and the aid promised by rich countries to the developing countries is far from su_cient in order to achieve the goal globally.
What were the results of the Glasgow Conference on Climate Change (COP26) and what are the commitment for ICESCO member countries?
