Course Overview :

Starting from heritage resources and intercultural dialogue, the course aims to provide the basis for integrating the main concepts of Life Beyond Tourism research, which considers heritage as a tool to create important opportunities for intercultural dialogue. Furthermore, the course provides the tools to turn this opportunity into a challenge for the design process on an architectural and urban scale.

Life Beyond Tourism is a project created by the Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation and developed, since 2007, with the international network of experts of the Foundation. All the results of the research are published in books and scientific articles.

Life Beyond Tourism is recognized, among the many international institutions, by UNESCO, ICCROM and ICOMOS.

Course Structure:

The course is divided into 3 modules: the first, with two classroom lessons, offers an introduction to the course with conceptual functions and terminology. The second, also made up of two lessons, deals with the theme of the influence of tourism on a site with its risks and opportunities. Finally, the third consists of three lessons and explores the world of Life Beyond Tourism from its origins to its milestones.

During the course students will be asked to do simple searches, surfing the Internet, to find new possible examples to create their own references.
