Final Déclaration and Plan of Action Second Africa Forum for Urban Safety (AFUS) Learning Exchange
We, the participants in the Second Africa Forum for Urban Safety (AFUS) Leaming Exchange held in Durban from 01 to 03 November 2017, representing intergovemmental organizations, Sates, local authorities, civil society and grassroots organizations, professionals and researchers, private sector, and other relevant stakeholders, have been welcomed by the eThekwini Municipality to address the thème of the conférence ‘Creating Safer Cities for ail: Implementation of the New Urban Agenda’ by setting out a plan of action to strengthen urban crime prévention policies and work towards building inclusive, safe, résilient and sustainable cities.
Given the rapid urban growth and the increasing problem of increasing crime, violence and insecurity in cities in Africa;
Guided by the principle of inclusion in building partnerships at international, régional, national and local levels, between intra and inter-govemmental, non-govemmental and community based organizations as well as partnerships with civil society, private sector and academia,
